The Escarpment Magazine - Winter Issue/2023, one of Georgian Bay’s major publications just published a feature article with cover on landscape and wildlife artist, Harvey Bodach. A number of major paintings presented in the publication, include two which were awarded first and second prizes with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), based in Vancouver, BC. (artists.ca).

The artist bounces between eight to ten works of art at any given time, each at different stages of production. His research of subject matter is extensive, drawing upon observational notes, compositional sketches and photographs of both the landscape and wildlife. These become the resource materials for each new work of art.

“Working within both two and three dimensional spaces, the landscape and wildlife images are created using a number of mediums within a realism style. Each composition is orchestrated so that the viewer’s eyes can move through every aspect of the artwork to get a full experience of this amazing world themselves.”

This article focuses on the artist’s work in the studio. This is the second of two consecutive articles that Escarpment Magazine has done with the artist. The first article specifically focussed on his extensive work in the field with a pair of bald eagles in the Thornbury area.
