A Crowning International Gold Award for 2024 Caps An Incredible Year
The announcement of winners of the Camelback Gallery “My Best Work of 2024” art exhibition came on December 31, 2024 with the painting - “HOME DEFENSE - Bald Eagle Pair and Canada Geese” earning a “Gold Award”. This award comes on the heals of other awards for 2024 and as a Canadian I am thankful and honored by the selection. It also comes at the same time when the Bald Eagle becomes the Official National Bird of the United States. This has been an incredible year for a number of reasons, including awards in six separate categories, two awards from Vancouver’s Federation Gallery and four with the Camelback Gallery in Scottsdale Arizona.
Painting Earns Second Place Award for “Space & Form Exhibition 2024” (FCA)
I want to express my gratitude to the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) for bestowing upon me another great honour. The theme for this current online exhibition is “Space & Form” which focuses on an artists ability with compositional design.
The painting “Yellow Birch at Sunset after a Rain with perching Great Horned Owl” has just earned the Second Place Prize with the Federation Gallery in Vancouver, BC. This is an online exhibition with both paintings and sculptures. Over 140 artists paintings and over 30 artists sculptures had been submitted and selected for this 2024 exhibition. I am honoured and feel wonderful that my compositional design has been acknowledged in this way.
I have mentioned numerous times before that these landscapes with wildlife paintings are orchestrated, that the viewers eyes are on a journey of discovery, that they are directed through the composition and given rest spots along the way to savor. What the ear absorbs in a musical score while the conductor directs each active player, is similar to what the eye takes in with the arrangement of elements in the space and form of the paintings.
Artist Harvey Bodach is given both International and National Recognition
Camelback Gallery is a Scottsdale, Arizona based virtual art gallery, which holds monthly juried online art competitions. These are international exhibitions with artists from over 12 countries participating and I feel honoured to have been invited to participate. The October theme was “Artist Invitational 10” and the 2018 painting “Ferruginous Hawk passing through a Carolinian Forest” was entered and won the JURORS CHOICE AWARD. The theme for the month of November was “Realism” and two portrait paintings were entered for this international competition. The first is the 2019 painting “Canada Lynx in Repose on a Moonlit Winter Night” which won GOLD AWARD, and the second painting “Sunrise Alert - Male & Female Cougar Pair - Portrait” winning the FINALIST AWARD. Arizona is our home away from home and these paintings are the first of many that will be exhibited in Scottsdale, Arizona, galleries.

Landscape and wildlife artist - Harvey Bodach is the subject of two consecutive articles published in the Fall and then Winter issues of Escarpment Magazine
The articles focus on the artist’s studio production processes and fieldwork.
Post Written By Harvey Bodach
The Escarpment Magazine - Winter Issue/2023 just published a cover and a feature article on his landscape and wildlife art. A number of major paintings are presented, including two which were awarded first and second prizes with the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), based in Vancouver, BC.
The feature article “Into the Wild” by Deena Dolan is found on the cover and pages 80 - 88 in one of Georgian Bay’s major publications. It is published on paperback and online at www.escarpmentmagazine.ca.
The Escarpment Magazine - Fall Issue/2022 also did an interview on his fieldwork with a pair of Bald Eagles. Both sketchbook and photos in the field form the basis of research for each work of art he does. Between four and eight photographs he has taken of the bald eagle pair can be seen in the paper and the online addition.
The article “Birds of Prey” by Cara Williams is found on pages 46 - 52. My observations were made over a one year period with a local bald eagle pair in the Thornbury area. These male and female eagles feed locally and have formed a complex relationship with each other which stretches year round in this area. It is published on paperback and online at www.escarpmentmagazine.ca.
Note: Coming soon, a new section called FIELD REPORTS will be added to website.
Another New Painting for 2022 which Highlights a male and female Cougar Pair on alert
A late summer Cougar Portrait
Written By Harvey Bodach
This original painting has just been finished, called “Sunrise Alert - Male & Female Cougar Pair - Portrait”. It is one of eight being worked on this year - each at various stages of completion. This is the companion portrait to that of “Canada Lynx in Repose on a Moonlit Winter Night”. The dimension of both portrait paintings are 20” x 15” done in Acrylics on Masonite Board.
It is late summer in this Cougar Pair portrait in which a dominant male stands tall and erect behind a sitting female. Both are intensely focussed and positioned in a stalking mode. Sights and sounds have caught both their attention, which are far more effective for them when hunting then the sense of smells are. They are silent hunters traveling day or night through a wide range of vegetation types, seeking out white-tailed deer and mule deer which are their preferred prey. They are extremely elusive, perfectly camouflaged when stocking prey, avoiding direct human contact whenever possible.
NOTE: For a limited time only, NO HST charge on the sale of this original painting.

Having completed a number of original works of art now, Harvey Bodach announces his first Solo Exhibition. This exhibition will take place at The Shed in Clarksburg, Ontario with over 27 paintings, sculptures and drawings on display.
Opening celebration will be on Saturday September 17 with the exhibition running through to the 20th.
“There is much in our world that makes us stop and ponder the mysteries of life. For me, the excitement comes with seeing a majestic Bald Eagle scanning the horizon from a cliff side perch. It is also the sudden dash of a Cottontail Rabbit in hiding and the early morning fog rising on a lake as a family of Common Loons break out. Over the past 25 years, I have compiled a collection of artwork that I think will inspire you. With a visual language, through multiple mediums, and by using a realistic style, this art will represent a growing artistic record of my experiences. It is now my privilege as a full-time artist to present my work at this first solo exhibition.” - Harvey Bodach
For more details on this Solo Exhibition please check out the HOME page SOLO EXHIBITION on the website www.harveybodach.com. Additional information on artwork can also be found on the website. NOTE: Further updates will be posted in the weeks ahead.
A New Painting for 2022 Which Highlights the Successful Survival of both the Bald Eagle and the White Cedar in Ontario
